Last Friday, Pastor Jonathan Lim, shared with us during our meeting at New World Park about how to study the Bible in our quiet time. It is by applying the: D. U. A. principal
D - Discover
U - Understand
A - Apply
It basically means, when we read the Bible, we must discover the truth, understand it and then apply it. For example:
Mat 5:14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Mat 5:15 Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a peck measure, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house.
Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men that they may see your [26] moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and [27] recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.
Scripture text taken from Matthew 5:14-16 (Amplified)
What we can discover:
We are the light.
Light shines, reveals, chase away darkness, guide
What we can understand:
We are called to shine God's light as it will reveal all things as it chase away the power of darkness around us and guide us and people around in truth and to the truth that will set us free - Jesus
What we can apply:
As the light, in our daily life, are we shinning God's light or what are we in darkness, needing God's light to reveal to us that we need to walk right with God?
Hope that all will benefit from this sharing

KDU Penang upcomming event - Change Your World Tour
Have we ever wonder if we can ever change our world? Have we ever wonder how we can make a difference in our world? There are many voices today that tells us "You can't". So, does it mean that we can never make a change?
Now, in fact, weather we are aware or not, we are making changes everyday. It can be positive or negative. If I buy something today, I am changing something. Somebody actually sold something which they previously had. We use things. Once we use something, it is never the same because it is changed to 2nd hand.
Now how can we change our world. Let's talk about positive changes. Let's look into history. The Wright brothers change the mode of transportation with airplane and change people's mentality that man can never fly. Obama Barrack change the USA mindset that every president must be a white. Esther is known for Purim festival because she did something to spare her people. Mozart change the approach to music. John Wesley and Martin Luther change Christianity concept. Apostle Paul changed the mindsets that Christianity are only for the Jews. Nobel change the world with Nobel peace prize.
Those are people from history that tells us that positive changes can be made by everyone. So how can we change our world? How can our small actions change our society?
We can only change our world if we know where is our world. What is our world? As a student in KDU, my world is revolving around studies, campus life and private life. My college is my world for now.
Ok, now we understand our world, so what do we do next? We should now see the need and meet the need. What are the needs around us? Like our society, poor people are in need. Change our world by eliminating poverty by helping them. Our friends who may be weak in studies, help them in their studies and that will change their world.
How do we identify needs and approach them? Have compasion and resist complecency, have awareness to counter ingnorance and have courage to face problems instead of having fear.
One of the best way to learn is to attend the CYW concert on this coming 22nd November at Dewan Sri Pinang from 6pm - 10pm. The ticket is RM20 but hey, it comes with a free sound track that is worth 29.90 (basically speaking you are getting a discount for the disc plus a pass to the concert!).
Let's not waste time and lets go change our world. Either change our world or our world will change us.

Good things are meant to be shared
Good things are meant to be shared. This is my motto for now... How can we share good things? We can share good things in our words and actions. Good things that can encourage people... are meant to be shared an not to be kept.
If there are things in our life that we think it can help encourage, edify, exhort or even help someone, we should share. Examples of such is the good news known as Gospel. People need it. In our world today, there are many people out there that needs help, that are discouraged, disappointed and weak. If we are friends, and friends are to help each other, we should help in our words. Words are powerful and if we use them correctly, we can actually help people. God's word says in Pro 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. Sometimes it is sad that we choose death over life in our words. I hope and pray that God will use me to encourage all those who are around me. Sad to say also many people loves to listen to the words of death in their life. Death could mean hopelessness (death to our hope) or literal cursing (Example: Die la...). The question is why should we speak death instead of life? I had friends who thinks that words of encouragement is nonsense. God bless that guy! Still sometimes, encouragement may not be helpful to those who often listen to the words of discouragement because they are bound by it. Fear comes by believing what we hear at times. In fact, fear as per Pastor Sylvia Lai means False Evidence Appearing Real. When these false evidence is proclaimed as real, it will produce fear which is contrary to faith. What is faith? Apostle Paul defines faith in Rom 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. It's interesting that hearing God's word helps add faith. As for me, God's Words encourages me and this drives out fear. Interestingly what we hear is what we believe. I believe, Deming's 14 point's point no.8 for quality management is - Drive out fear. If everybody speaks of false evidence appearing real, this creates a mentality and Fear creeps in to bind people. Discouragement comes by negative inputs from others. Example: The you can't video in Quest 1 of Change Your World. If we live in faith, believing that it will work, it CAN, it will drown the words of discouragement and propell us forward. These 2 factors - fear and discouragement, the solution is to add courage known as en-courage. En stands for add.
Good things are meant to be shared in our actions. If we help others like Recess Revolution's Show up, Stand up and Speak up. Actions help and they speak louder than words. If we have good skills, don't waste them, use it to help people in need! Got extra, give to ones in need and they will be blessed and encouraged. Like this Change You World tour, invite people to come and this will help encourage the team as whole. I am encouraged when Mr. Ronald got the principal of KDU to make it a college event and to promote it in the foyer instead of the actual plans of having it at room 404. Now all we need to do is to help support the team with our actions of explaining to interested students at the foyer.
In conclusion, good things are meant to be shared. If we keep it to ourselves, we are not only selfish but doing injustice to those in need.
